Atherton St George's CE Primary School

At St George's Primary School we are proud of our high expectations for attainment, achievement, attitude and behaviour, providing our pupils with high aspirations to be the best that they can be.

We are committed to ensuring that every child, entrusted to our care, achieves their full potential in a happy, safe, caring and Christian environment. We nurture positive attitudes to learning and behaviour using this to support our children in achieving their full potential.

We encourage our children to be the very best they can in all aspects of life; preparing them with the key skills and values needed, to play a positive role in our community. Developing relationships is paramount to supporting our children's growth, therefore we actively encourage strong links with our families, governors and the community.

Mrs L Boardman - Exec. Headteacher

St George’s has a long history in our community, being established for over a century, and enjoys strong links with our Church which is situated across the road. We also have our own pre-school, Little Dragons, who take children from two years old.

As from 1st April 2017 we formed a Multi Academy Trust known as 'The Wings' CE Trust'. Being part of The Wings’ CE Trust family of schools provides our pupils, and staff, with increased opportunities to share great practice and resources.

We seek to develop independent, self-disciplined, happy children with a love of learning who have acquired all the attitudes, knowledge and skills to enable them to fulfil their potential both here and in later life. We believe that this can only be achieved through close co-operation between home and school and we seek to develop strong relationships with parents.

I had the pleasure of being Headteacher at St George’s from 2006-2017 when I became the CEO of our trust and am very proud of our legacy of strong academic achievement and pastoral care for our pupils
