Our Mission Statement: We strive to ensure everyone feels safe and valued in our Christian environment. We listen and support each other and our achievements are celebrated. We encourage a love of learning, which makes school a fun place to be. We always do our very best. Written by the Pupils, Parents, Staff and Governors of St. George's |
Dear Visitor, Welcome to Atherton St. George's C.E. School Website. St. George's is a place where children achieve their full potential and grow into self-confident and caring members of our community. We are very proud of our successful record in raising standards in all areas of our children’s learning and development and are particularly proud of our Outstanding KS2 SAT's results : 2012 English 86% L4+ Maths 100% L4+ 2011 English 96% L4+ 2010 English 87% L4+ 2009 English: 90% L4+ Further information on the performance of school can be found by following this link to the DFE performance tables:
Pupils benefit from committed and experienced staff who provide high quality teaching and learning for the children in our care coupled with small class sizes. All our pupils are well known to staff and to each other and are encouraged to develop self-discipline in their work habits, behaviour and play. As it states in our Ofsted report: “ This is a good school. It has several outstanding features which give it a distinctive character and quality of provision. The school has a wonderful ethos, the result of the exceptional care, guidance and support provided for the pupils. This is a school where every child really does matter.” As a Church school we celebrate our Church links with both St George’s and the Parish of Atherton. Regular services are held for pupils in our Church and a fortnightly Eucharist service is held in school. However, nothing can replace personal contact or seeing the school in action and so therefore, an open invitation is available to everyone to visit at a mutually convenient time to see first hand how the school is entering a new and exciting development in its history with the completion of ‘Phase Four’ of an adventurous programme of new build and refurbishment Yours Sincerely,
Mrs Rachael Coulthard |
